Dennis Ellsworth is an award winning singer-songwriter from Prince Edward Island, Canada. Americana-UK.com called his debut album, Chesterfield Dweller of the Year, "heartfelt and heart-achingly beautiful, a timeless album". Ellsworth's lyrics are honest and he paints a vivid picture of love, loss, and wintry drunkenness. The debut features guest appearances by Jill Barber, Christine Bougie, and James Gray (formerly of Blue Rodeo).
In 2009, Dennis formed Haunted Hearts where he remains the chief writer and singer in the award winning Americana group. Haunted Hearts has two full-length records, Thank You, Goodnight (2009), and Howdy (2010) and are currently working on material for a third.
In September 2011, a solo EP titled "Strange Boat" was released. It is comprised of six classic sounding, laid back songs that were recorded over two sessions in 2010 and 2011. It recently garnered four nominations at the Music PEI Awards to be held in January 2012.
In the past year, Dennis has shared the stage with Steve Poltz, Matt Andersen, Gordie Sampson, Peter Elkas, Willie Nile, John Smith (UK), and Lloyd Cole (UK).
Dennis' new record, titled "Dusk Dreams", was recorded at Chase Park Transduction, in Athens, Georgia, with acclaimed producer, David Barbe (Drive By Truckers, Cracker, Bob Mould/Sugar). It will be available in May 2012 on Busted Flat Records.
